Tables and Chairs

I'm challenged to make unusual images from every day objects. I like the geometry of these tables and chairs, as well as the reflections and shadows in them. The first two were taken in Santiago de Campostela, Spain, the third in Lisbon, Portugal, and the fourth on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts, US.

Shop Windows, Castille, Spain

These were all shot in northern Spain, in the Castille region. I like the interplay of what's in the windows with the reflections on the street.

Birds

These four images were taken in differerent places: the first robin was shot in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Though it was September, you can already see snow on the mountain in the background. I liked the way this robin was poised in the branch of the dead tree.

The second image was out our kitchen window in Newton, Massachusetts (near Boston.) We watched this baby robin and siblings hatch in a nest just outside our window. Over weeks, we watched both parents feeding these babies. This was the runt of the litter; its siblings had all previously flown off. This shot was taken just before its first, very tentative, flight.

These storks were shot in Zamora, Spain. It was thrilling to see this nest above one of Zamora's many churches and to watch these storks during our visit.

These finches were shot in an indoor butterfly garden in Key West, Florida.

Solitude, Northern Spain

The first two images were taken in Santiago de Campostela, Galicia – the very northwest of Spain. They were shot from the veranda of the huge Hospital de los Reyes Católicos, where pilgrims have traveled for ten centuries from across Europe to see what they believe to be the remains of St. James (Sant Iago) in the Cathedral. We were looking down at the street below just before siesta ended. The silence gave no indication of the hundreds of merchants, tourists, and locals who would fill the plaza behind us in the hours to come.
